Steven Xzavier Medina, 20, pleaded guilty to a charge of intoxication manslaughter in March in the death of 16-year-old Jessica Medina. On Jan. 26, 2020, Steven Medina was driving recklessly under the influence of THC and methamphetamine with three passengers, all teenage girls. They asked him to stop so they could get out because of his erratic driving.
Steven Medina pulled over, but only two girls were able to get out of the car before he began driving once more. The third passenger, Jessica Medina, became tangled in the seatbelt and could not free herself as the car was moving. She was dragged nearly 4 miles until Medina stopped the car in the 3600 block of Culebra Road. Medina died from her injuries. Steven and Jessica Medina are not related, officials said.
