A DNA test reportedly found Flaget’s DNA in a bowl in Russell’s apartment, and his blood was reportedly found in the microwave.

Russell apparently knew Flaget because Flaget was the grounds keeper for the Russell family’s property. According to the Bonner County Bee, Russell and Flaget had “several conflict-like run-ins,” prior to the incident. Flaget was reportedly killed by blunt force trauma. The Bee said Russell then fled arrest and “initiated a brief standoff before allowing himself to be apprehended.”

He reportedly told police when they arrested him, “It’s private property and we don’t like non-family on it.” Russell has reportedly been undergoing “intensive psychological and psychiatric treatment” since last October.
