Charges against the Morris County man were dismissed after the court found police twice entered his home unlawfully, the lawsuit says.

A Morris County man who spent six months in jail — on charges that were eventually dismissed because police twice illegally searched his home — has filed a lawsuit against the officers and township for false arrest.

Roxbury police and township officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the suit Thursday. Around the same time, a fourth officer sought and obtained a search warrant from a New Jersey Superior Court judge so police could conduct another search and seize evidence. The search warrant was obtained “without probable cause,” the lawsuit alleges.

On July 18, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office filed a motion to dismiss the case and all charges were dropped, according to the lawsuit.
