Manhattan Beach officer killed in 405 Freeway crash

The crash was reported about 5:15 a.m. near Del Amo Boulevard.

A Manhattan Beach police motorcycle officer, possibly on his way to work, was killed in a crash on the northbound 405 Freeway in Carson on Wednesday, Oct. 4, authorities said.

“A vehicle may have been traveling at an unsafe speed and conducted an unsafe lane change,” Carapia said. First responders performed life-saving measures on the officer, stabilizing him before he was taken to a hospital, Carapia said. A second person was hospitalized with minor injuries.
