The 78-year-old owner of an Upper Marlboro farm owner has been found not guilty on three counts of animal cruelty from an incident stemming from 2021.
Several zebras have been reported roaming around parts of Prince George's County Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, according to the Prince George's County Animal Shelter. The case dates back to Aug. 26, 2021, when the Prince George's County Animal Services Division was made aware of at least three zebras that had escaped from Holly's 300-acre farm.
During the court hearing Wednesday, Defense Attorney Steven Vinick said, “The issues here are whether Mr. Holly violated the law to provide shelter and sustenance but not about the death of his zebras.” The inspection also reported that the 36 zebras at the farm were being cared for by one person with no experience or adequate knowledge of the species.
