If the state reaches lower levels of community transmission this spring or summer, it might be safe for healthy people who are fully immunized to stop wearing masks, said Dr. Joe Gastaldo, medical director of infectious diseases for OhioHealth.
“But we’re not at that point yet,” Gastaldo said during Friday’smedia briefing. “Right now, even with our numbers coming down, it is the recommendation for everybody, regardless of their vaccination status, to wear a mask indoors in public.”
But for right now, as rates of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to be high across the state, masks are still recommended, Vanderhoff said. “While masks will no longer be required for grades K-12, it is strongly recommended that all students and staff wear masks while in district buildings, which follows the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , the Ohio Department of Health and the Cuyahoga County Board of Health ,” Rocky River schools said in announcing the lifting of its mask mandate late last month.
