The energy company plans to build a new corporate headquarters, in “an inaugural development” in its strategy to redevelop 100 acres it owns there to create what’s being called the Power District Campus.
Ironically, the Utah Jazz’s arena is in downtown Salt Lake City and Real Salt Lake has, despite the name, set up shop in Sandy. Let’s be real, “Real Sandy” doesn’t really have the same ring to it. Who’s Sandy? Vivint Arena, where the Jazz play, is directly adjacent to a burgeoning restaurant and bar scene, many established hotels, tourist destinations and transit options that can bring visiting fans to and from the airport as well as local fans from across the Wasatch Front. On the other hand, RSL’s Mountain America Stadium has, despite some effort from Sandy’s government, very little of these benefits.

Biden signs bill to study salt lakes in drought-hit US WestScientists will get $25 million to study salt lake ecosystems in the drought-stricken U.S. West, as President Joe Biden signed legislation Tuesday allocating the funds in the face of unprecedented existential threats caused by the lack of water. The funding allows the United States Geological Survey to study the hydrology of the ecosystems in and around Utah's Great Salt Lake, California's Mono Lake, Oregon's Lake Albert and other saline lakes. Amid a decadeslong drought, less snowmelt has flowed through the rivers that feed into the lakes, causing shorelines to recede and lake levels to plummet.
