Technically at least, Mayor Ron Nirenberg has opposition in his bid for a fourth and final term. His challengers are mostly unknowns.
Here's a quick rundown of Nirenberg's challengers:Ray Adam Basaldua, 51, is a San Antonio business owner. He was one of several candidates who ran for mayor and lost in 2021. Basaldua said he's seeking the office to put in place a better system for preventing child abuse.
Christopher T. Schuchardt, 33, owns a trucking and materials company that works on commercial, residential and highway projects.Armando Dominguez is self-employed and has lived in Texas for 40 years.Gary Allen is a retired teacher, principal and coach. In 2020, he ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination for the 20th Congressional District. In 2021, he ran for mayor against Nirenberg and lost.
