Media whiplash: CNN’s Jake Tapper muzzles Trump-friendly footage a month after town hall
The Trump-muzzling comes with CNN reverting to form after the exit of CEO Chris Licht, who was credited during his one-year tenure with trying to move the left-tilting network to the center. He was sent packing earlier this month after failing to resuscitate the network’s sagging ratings and amid reports of staff revolt.
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow explained to viewers that network officials had decided against airing Mr. Trump’s post-arraignment speech, citing “what we fully expect in advance to be a litany of lies and false accusations.” The swing by CNN from highlighting to hiding Mr. Trump did not go unnoticed by media critics or conservatives.
