We chat with BumperInBerlin showrunner meganamram about her love of PitchPerfect, reuniting Adam Devine & Sarah Hyland after ModernFamily, and learning how to run a show from Michael Schur:
It's time to give thanks because Pitch Perfect is back on the screen with the new Peacock series, Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin. Over the course of 6 episodes, star Adam Devine returns to the scene of the acapella battle as Bumper Allen, only everyone else has moved on from Barden University while he remains stuck.
Megan Amram: I was a fan of the movies, like a lot of people are, and I love the music. Max Handelman and Elizabeth Banks, who are the executive producers of the movies and this show, knew for a while that I wanted to weasel my way into their worlds. We didn't quite find the project yet, and then it was their idea to expand the Pitch Perfect universe in sort of an offbeat way. I have TV experience, and I am an offbeat person, so they were like, "This might be a match made in heaven.
Speaking of feeling good, obviously I'm happy to see Bumper and Pietr, but also super happy to see Miss Sarah Hyland. Did you know that was what the people wanted? Was it Adam's idea? Who decided to reunite them? I love all the songs and the way that they're arranged, but they're very short so far. Will I get full-length versions?
