Michael Brantley rejoined the team before Monday’s series opener against the Angels.
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Outfielder Michael Brantley is back with the Astros, but it’s still a mystery when he’ll be activated.
Brantley rejoined the team before Monday’s series opener against the Angels, but manager Dusty Baker said he won’t be active for Tuesday’s game. The series ends Wednesday, with the Astros then going to Chicago to play the White Sox beginning Friday.Brantley, recovering from shoulder surgery that ended his season last June, spent nine games on a rehab assignment with Class AAA Sugar Land that began April 23.
Second baseman Jose Altuve, meanwhile, returned to Houston. He’ll head to Sugar Land to face live pitching from Space Cowboys pitchers as he works his way back from thumb surgery March 22.
