Tucson Roadrunners forward Michael Carcone not only leads the AHL with 50 points, he also has the same number of penalty minutes.
Brett Fera It's not as if Tucson Roadrunners forward Michael Carcone has ever been afraid to mix things up with a big check, get in the middle of a scrum or even partake in a fight to defend himself or a teammate.
Extrapolate those out for the season and Carcone, should he play every game the rest of the way, would finish with 108 points and 108 penalty minutes. “You definitely have to have a balance,” Carcone said. “If I want to be successful … I need to mix it up and find ways that are going to keep me in the NHL, or get me to the NHL.
"I know we’ve been taking a lot of penalties recently, so that’s kind of been our thing in the room. I think just staying out of the box has been a focus, not only for myself, but for everyone.” Carcone also leads the AHL with 11 power-play goals, while his 126 shots on goal are tied for second entering Wednesday.
