No hits, but no problems: MiddleburgSB was on the wrong end of a no-hitter against Naples, but opportunistic baserunning and Mallory Forrester's pitching lifted the Broncos into their first-ever softball final.
"Absolutely speechless, we throw a no-hitter and lose?" Naples coach Scott Angelico said. "It was a missed call, plain and simple. One-run games are always tough to lose, but they are a little bit easier to take when they are decided on the field and not by a controversial call."
Beginning with the opening round of regional playoffs, the Flagler College-committed senior has pitched a no-hitter, a two-hitter, a 13-inning five-hitter, and now a one-hitter, with a total of 56 strikeouts and two runs allowed in 32 innings. Miles was equally impressive. She did not allow a hit in her six innings of work, walking two and striking out eight, retiring 16 of the last 17 batters she faced.
