A look at how different strengths benefit the U.S. military, allies.

exercise brought in an array of foreign national partners, strengthening the capabilities and ties between allied forces.

One of the ways the U.S. accomplishes that task is by inviting allies to train with the U.S. in the JPMRC. With Canada being our closest partner in the arctic, the opportunity is part of an ongoing collaboration and commitment to defend each other. “JPMRC 24-02 is the largest representation that Canada has been able to send, so approximately 600 people,” said McBride. The integration of foreign militaries has what McBride calls a “strategic effect” on our adversaries.“We get great partnership we exchange ideas, we exchange training techniques, really learn how to work together,” said Col.

One of those lessons from our neighbors is making small units more effective. “One of the things I think that Canada does very well is creativity and innovation,” said McBride. While that includes a plethora of arctic specific strategies, “I think the U.S. counterparts were able to see how small and effective we can be and survive on the battle field,” McBride said. Those strategies can help the U.S. work with a smaller, yet still effective “footprint” on the battlefield.
