Ben Gamel logged his first hit as a member of the Padres organization, going 1-for-3 in Triple-A El Paso's 4-2 loss to the Sugar Land Space Cowboys on Sunday.

Ben Gamel logged his first hit as a member of the Padres organization, going 1-for-3 in Triple-A El Paso’s 4-2 loss to the Sugar Land Space Cowboys on Sunday.

Gamel, acquired from the Rays organization early in the week, doubled to lead off the fourth inning. He also walked and scored. The rehabbing Luis Campusano added an RBI single and Jantzen Witte boosted his average to .297 with a run-scoring hit for the Chihuahuas, who fell to 36-54.Right-hander Anderson Espinoza took the loss for El Paso after allowing two runs on four hits in four innings. Two of Sugar Land’s hits against Espinoza were homers.Daniel Camarena allowed one run on three hits over five innings, but the Missions were unable to get anything going at the plate.
