A woman who was found dead Sunday along Cypress Creek has been identified as Phalyssia Sanders, a 28-year-old who had been missing since April 9 and whose death was linked to another recent killing, said Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
Sanders' body was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 18400 block of Mossforest, and her death ruled a homicide. Investigators determined that her death was connected to the April 15 killing of Saymo Pieternelle in the 16300 block of Ella Blvd, about three miles away from where deputies found Sanders.
The suspect, Francisco Gonzalez, confessed to family members about both murders before fleeing the state, according to the sheriff. The suspect fatally shot himself over the weekend during a police chase in Trussville, Ala., Gonzalez said. The motive for Sanders' killing is unclear, the sheriff said, but the two appeared to have some type of relationship. Investigators believe Sanders is closely related to Pieternelle, who is not believed to be an accomplice.
