The league and union met face-to-face 13 times during a negotiating session that started at 10 a.m. Eastern time on Monday and wrapped just after 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Roger Dean Stadium. Both sides characterized Monday’s movement as progress, but the union still believes they are far apart on the competitive balance tax, minimum salary and the size of the bonus pool for pre-arbitration players. According to a person familiar with the proposal, owners offered a $25 million pre-arbitration bonus pool. The union asked for as high as $115 million.
