by Stephannie JosephThe CRC notified the County Executive about financial mismanagement on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, that led to the termination of an employee.
"We have a bunch of organizations, some of which might have to shut down, some of which can’t make payroll and can’t provide vital programming," Barnhart said. "I know I’m not alone in wanting to know, ‘What can we do for those organizations?'""work with Monroe County government, providing any information or assistance necessary to protect the work of affected agencies and clients to minimize the interruption of services.
Walker says Monroe County did not choose the CRC as the fiscal sponsor for the NCP, but it was the CRC that applied for the ARPA funding on behalf of the NCP.From the outset, Monroe County set in place a monthly compliance review over the life of the multi-year grant for the Neighborhood Collaborative Project . While no oversight structure is foolproof, it can limit the extent of mismanagement or malfeasance, as it did in this case.
As to Legislator Barnhart’s letter to the Department of Justice and subsequent accusations of a lack of diligence on this contract, the County been in contact with state and federal authorities.
