Montgomery County officials have ended overtime pay for associate judges who work weekends and holidays, a decision that follows an investigation earlier this year concerning overbilling of more than $40,000.

The decision earlier in November comes four months after commissioners took the recommendation of the county's Board of Judges toand accept the resignation of Bernice Greathouse, a manager in the Office of Court Administration, regarding the overbilling. “In going into that office, we did a deep dive, we got down in the weeds, we got our hands dirty, we figured out some better practices to run that office and ways to save the taxpayers’ money,” Bays said.
“These are people who are heavily burdened with a lot of work which is constitutionally required,” Bays said.
