Heavy rain in Walker and Montgomery counties may cause the need to increase how much water is being released from Lake Conroe. That could lead to major flooding.is currently releasing water from the lake but expects the need to increase the amount of water they’re releasing.
Montgomery County officials are urging people south of the Lake Conroe Dam near the San Jacinto River to be prepared for significant flooding. They are closely monitoring and will provide updates, which will add to this story as they come in. The San Jacinto River Authority is also temporarily closed as of 7 a.m. because of high water levels and the possibility of submerged objects, floating debris and other hazards. The high water could create dangerous conditions for boaters.
