MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Montgomery has been recognized as one of five communities in the nation to receive the title of 2023 Great American Defense Community.
Home to Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base and the 187th Fighter Wing Air National Guard, the city was awarded this recognition for its dedication to improving life for members of the military in all sectors, including quality of life and education. Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed said receiving the recognition is impactful to the future of Montgomery and the River Region.
