A combined nine players will move on from the UAF men's and women's basketball teams.

Published: Mar. 5, 2024 at 9:39 AM AKSTFAIRBANKS, Alaska - The UAF basketball teams celebrated a combined nine graduating players Saturday at the Patty Center — three for the women and six for the men.

After letting that early lead slip, the Nanooks fought back. Emma Wass drained an open three from the top of the arc near the end of the third, and Emma McKenney followed that up with a fierce drive to the paint to give the Nanooks a narrow, one-point advantage at 48-47 with just over 30 seconds remaining in the quarter.

Sinking threes and managing acrobatic lay-ups, Seattle Pacific’s 23-point final quarter put the game to bed as the Nanooks fell 72-64. Lily Stewart, a graduate transfer who finished with two points and two rebounds Saturday, was happy to have added to her locker of collegiate sports memories. “I get to leave my mark, and hopefully I left my mark on the returners for next year, and I hope that everybody steps up,” Mckenney said. The UAF men’s basketball team also recognized the six senior members of its squad in a matchup against Seattle Pacific.
