The staggering statistic is sure to alarm many parents.
A meta-analysis published Monday by medical journalfound a staggering 22% of children and adolescents display signs of disordered eating.
In order to gather the data for their meta-analysis, the authors analyzed 32 studies from 16 different countries, including the US, the UK, Spain, Germany, China, South Korea and Slovenia. “From an epidemiological perspective, identifying the magnitude of disordered eating and its distribution in at-risk populations is crucial for planning and executing actions aimed at preventing, detecting, and dealing with them,” the study read.
