A fresh manufacturing problem at a Boeing Co. supplier is likely to lead to delivery delays at the aerospace and defense company, Wall Street analysts said Thursday.
This time, Spirit workers improperly drilled holes for fasteners in the bulkhead of the 737 Max 8 fuselages, leaving the holes larger and misaligned. The Max 9 and Max 10 have different bulkhead designs and are not affected. Boeing’s delivery guidance for the year might be imperiled, Citi analyst Jason Gursky said in his note.“The fixes are likely to take several weeks, which likely puts pressure on Boeing’s delivery forecast for the year,” Gursky said. “We expect management to provide an update on the issue in early September at an investor conference.”
