Most Texans don’t want the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the landmark Roe vs. Wade ruling that established abortion rights nationwide, but they do support limits, according to a Dallas Morning News-University of Texas at Tyler poll released Sunday.

This month, though, 44% of Roe opponents say they back a six-week ban, 29% favor a cutoff after 15 weeks and 27% are unsure.

Allison Molina, 56, a construction company bookkeeper in Montgomery County, north of Houston, said she opposes overturning Roe, though she finds abortion “horrific” and is grateful she was never “put in that situation.”Abbott and the Texas Legislature have passed a “trigger law”“I don’t want women going back to dark alleys with coat hangers,” she said. “A lot of women are going to die. Women will kill themselves if they’re faced with a pregnancy they can’t handle.

Poll respondent Shane Lamasters, a Dallas County resident, said that his Christian beliefs influence his stance on overturning Roe, and that he thinks people don’t understand that the move wouldn’t make abortion illegal.
