Morrison is a founding member of the Kids First Association, which consists of parents and teachers of all faiths who are interested in restoring the opt-out option and restoring parental notification in the Montgomery County Public Schools.Parents of MCPS students rallied against the ban on the ability to opt-out or receive notification when books on gender and human sexuality would be read.
"Especially with a child with Down Syndrome, just because of her abilities, if very day we're asking her to listen to what her teacher says… for her to go to school and learn something from the teacher directly, and now to have her come home and have to tell her, 'Well, what the teacher taught you isn't what we believe,' for a child like her, that's going to be very confusing.
