Seattle city councilmember Kshama Sawant backs the movement, calling on the city council to back her resolution to condemn the union-busting efforts of the company.
Sawant also offered her support to the workers of the two local stores – 5th and Pike and the Westlake drive-thru -- that participated in the gathering.She said they’re talking to Starbucks workers about a national day of action.The company denies any claims of union busting. In fact, they support a workers right to unionize.
That said, they think employees – who they call “partners” can accomplish that without a union’s backing.
