reports that at least eight people have died during the incident that took place at the Houston music festival at NRG Park, where some 50,000 concertgoers were attending.
Houston Police Executive Assistant Chief Larry Satterwhite told The AP that the surge seemed to happen “all at once,” and the event was ended quickly in efforts to prioritize the safety of the crowd. “Suddenly we had several people down on the ground, experiencing some type of cardiac arrest or some type of medical episode,”As noted by CNN, officials explained during a press conference that the cause of the surge was not promptly clear, and an investigation of the incident is underway.
