Murphy calls deadly Wildwood car rally an ‘awful tragedy,’ says officials will review what happened

Gov. Phil Murphy reacted to criticism, Wednesday, that N.J. wasn't prepared for the Wildwood pop-up car rally that turned deadly Saturday. Murphy called the rally known as H20i or H2022 an 'awful tragedy.'

The mayor of Wildwood was on with me personally Saturday night. We were deploying resources, mostly State Police. We coordinate actively with the municipalities, the counties.”

Asked what officials need to do to prevent such parties in the future, Murphy said: “I think each one of these, frankly, have a lot of uniqueness to them.”
