While not always, oppositions often quietly , grudgingly provide verbal second-reading support on bills they oppose just to move them forward to debate. That Harrison called for a recorded vote should have tipped off NDP members that they were heading toward a problem … although the bigger problem may be Beck’s wishy-washy, appease-everyone-at-all-times approach.that remain unhappy that the NDP leadership didn’t produce what they hoped it would.

If you are an opposition leader demanding immediate accountability from government, you don’t get away with ducking accountability yourself.
