Another 10 workers stand to lose their chance at a raise for the 2022-2023 school year.
The Asbury Park Board of Education will consider terminating 28 district employees and withholding salary increases from another 10 workers “due to economic issues” in a vote Wednesday night, as per the recommendation of district schools Superintendent RaShawn Adams.on the Asbury Park School District website. Positions that stand to be eliminated include, but are not limited to, a psychologist, a social worker, seven elementary teachers and four security officers.
The union president said the number of staff reductions being considered Wednesday was “very high” and represented “a big loss in building where you need additional support in each and every building.”
