Edison Township hosted an early event honoring MLK Day and Black History Month on Saturday.
Residents listen to Mayor Sam Joshi deliver a kynote speech at theEdison Recreation Department's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday and African-American History Month tribute celebration on Jan. 15 at the Minnie B. Veal Community Center.Ahead of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and nationwide holiday, the Edison Recreation Department held an early community event to commemorate his life on Saturday afternoon.
Acting Director of Recreation Joyce Fircha kicked the event off by welcoming residents and elected officials. Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Rev. Tom Cully delivered an invocation, and the Cub Scout Pack 66-Den #3 led the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.
