Fatherhood duty prevented Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman — then a top official with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey — from getting killed on Sept. 11, 2001.

Blakeman on Sunday recounted that he was scheduled to meet with “my friend” PA executive director Neil Levin at theon the 106th and 107th floors of the North Tower that Tuesday 22 years ago. Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman told The Post that he had a meeting in the World Trade Center on the morning of 9/11, but canceled shortly before it to care for his son.“I think about that all the time. I think about my friend Neil Levin,” the Nassau County leader said..Eighty-four its employees died in the attacks, among them 37 members of the bi-state agency’s police department.

“That’s my nephew’s final resting place,” said Blakeman. “It doesn’t get any easier. It’s heartbreaking every year. It’s an open wound.
