Great blue herons, great egrets, and snowy egrets strut stealthily in the shallows of Spring Creek or stand on the muddy banks, ready to snatch fish with spear-shaped beaks. A belted kingfisher may take off from a willow tree’s limb overhanging the creek and jet low over the creek to catch a fish. Adults and children will have fun discovering the diversity of plants and wildlife in the 312-acre wilderness park along Spring Creek.: Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center under Harris County Precinct 3, 20634 Kenswick, HumbleGuided nature walks, bird identification tours, nature demonstrations, educational booths, live animal exhibits, a fishing pond, and exhibits from local conservation groups.
Amenities in the park include paved trails, boardwalks, restrooms, paved parking zones, and a Nature Center building with exhibits. The restored Akokisa Indian Village and Redbud Hill Homestead offer glimpses into how people lived in the forest before modern amenities.
