Investigators say it was a 13-year-old family member who committed the crime.
According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, an elderly man was stabbed and set on fire Wednesday afternoon. He died from his injuries the next morning.The 70-year-old victim was identified as Neulan “Shelby” Sims. FOX10 News is told the suspect is Sims’ great-nephew.The home is destroyed with nothing left but ashes and crime scene tape.Family members say Shelby was deaf and blind.“I’m just stunned right now. I mean it ain’t much really to say except sorry and try to help them.
According to a volunteer firefighter, Sims was stabbed twice near a trampoline and managed to crawl under a nearby trailer. Sherry Dismukes says her daughter lives across the street, and they grew up with the victim’s family.“I didn’t know him but I mean I just know that he’s got to be a good person to be Ms. Lennie’s brother. Blown away. I just hope to God something good comes out of this cause I know their hearts are hurting,” Dismukes said. “I just pray for you Ms. Lennie and Mr. Lennie your grandkids come out all alright and everything goes good for you.
