Neil Gaiman answers the burning question of whether The Sandman show could tell stories not in the comics. Gaiman brought the world of The Dreaming and its mystical inhabitants to life in 1989, when he began producing his original graphic novel series at DC Comics. Since then, the Sandman comics have amassed a devoted following, leading up to major expectations for the Netflix series adaptation.

We've just covered in the first season, essentially, the first 400 pages or 450 pages. Now we've dropped eleven [episodes] of Sandman and we have 2600 pages to go. So I don't look at this going 'Wouldn't it be fun to add something else in?' I tend to look at this and go, 'We have a long road to travel, with a lot of places that we have to stop on the way.
