Nelson Wolff goes from politician to professor — will teach at St. Mary’s and UTSA
Former Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, 82, has been a fixture in South Texas politics for 52 years. Now he will share his knowledge with students and faculty members at St. Mary’s University and the University of Texas at San Antonio.proved a consummate dealmaker, forging consensus for major projects such as the AT&T Center and the Mission Reach of the River Walk.
He was appointed county judge in 2001 when Cyndi Taylor Krier, the first woman to hold the position in Bexar County, resigned to become a UT regent. Wolff subsequently was elected to five full terms. “Judge Wolff will impart to hundreds of St. Mary’s University students the gentle art of drawing people together to find common ground, common goals and common good,” St. Mary’s president, Thomas Mengler, said in a statement. “Our students now and in the coming years are blessed that he is returning home to his alma mater.”
“I am delighted that St. Mary’s has welcomed me back home to help in whatever way I can to prepare the next generation of St. Mary’s leaders,” Wolff said in a statement.
