Netflix's One Piece adaptation star Craig Fairbrass shares a surprising filming update surrounding the current status for the live-action series.

Craig Fairbrass shares a surprising update surrounding Netflix's upcoming live-action adaptation of One Piece, giving a glimpse at the current status of the ambitious Netflix manga adaptation. The series will bring Eiichiro Oda's ongoing manga series to live-action, telling the story of a boy's quest to become the Pirate King, crossing the ocean to discover a fabled lost treasure.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Taking to his personal Twitter account, Fairbrass shared a surprising update on the upcoming Netflix-produced live-action adaptation. While Netflix's One Piece wrapped filming in September 2022, Fairbrass revealed that he had revisited Cape Town for a third time to work on the series in the post, stating he'd wrapped his work on the current shoot. With Fairbrass returning to shoot additional scenes, it can be assumed that the series is undergoing reshoots ahead of the series' expected release in 2023.

Netflix's One Piece Faces A Number Of Challenges While One Piece is a beloved series that continues to enthrall and excite dedicated fans even after almost 26 years, there is an incredible amount of pressure on Netflix's take on the series. With a large dedicated following, expectations are high and questions remain as to whether Netflix can faithfully translate the manga into live-action in a way that remains faithful to the source material's art and story.

Furthermore, Netflix's track record with previous adaptations of beloved anime and manga has left anime viewers skeptical about how the company could approach the series. Projects such as Netflix and Adam Wingard's 2017 Death Note movie adaptation and the live-action Cowboy Bebop television series were poorly received, with criticisms in particular noting their handling of the source material.
