New 'art-inspired' apartments openings near Sawyer Yards add to Houston's multifamily growth
The interiors for The Oliver at Sawyer Yards are intended to create a “boutique” feel that blend the neighborhood’s industrial history with clean lines and a colorful palette. The community features 2- and 3- dimensional art collection from local Houston artists such as Rick Lowe, Jo Ann Fleischhauer, Christopher Cascio and more.
According to Greystar, some 5,000 artists work within a quarter mile of The Oliver. “The art and artists in this area is unparalleled,” Dodington said. Construction on the first few units will be complete this month, with the first residents expected to begin moving in February, according to Greystar. Rents range from $1,365 to about $3,290 monthly with micro units, studios, one- and two-bedrooms available. For context, the average apartment rent in The Heights/Washington Avenue area is currently about $1,821 – higher than the average overall rent for the city of $1,261, according to Transwestern.
