Val T. Webb joins Team Chance after wowing judges with a performance of Deborah Cox's 'Nobody's Supposed to Be Here.'
A New Braunfels background singer got the coveted four-chair turn on Tuesday’s episode of “The Voice,” and ultimately selected Chance the Rapper as her coach. Val T. Webb, 43, delivered a confident, soaring take on Deborah Cox’s “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here” as part of the blind auditions. John Legend spun first, just a few bars into the song, followed swiftly by Chance. Before she reached the end, all five judges were on their feet, applauding her.
Roma, Texas, native earns spot on Team Dan + Shay In Tuesday’s installment, Legend asked Webb if she sings in church — “It kind of sounds like you do” — and she said that she has been a worship director for a long time. All of the judges made that the heart of their pitches to work with her, noting their own experiences singing in church. “I grew up singing gospel and soul music, and I just love coaching artists like yourself,” Legend said.
