Downtown Houston's newest luxury apartment tower is open, soaring 43 stories above Discovery Green

feels like entering a high-end hotel – there’s valet parking, a concierge desk to greet you with a branded bottle of water and a Pinterest-worthy set of couches curving around coffee tables inviting guests to linger. But instead of booking only nightly stays, the concierges are inking yearlong leases.

“We really wanted this building, from the design perspective, to feel like this is people’s best hotel experience is now their home life, and we wanted that to carry through in our service package and who greeted you,” said Yewande Fapohunda, senior vice president at High Street Residential, a subsidiary of Trammell Crow Company.

High Street Residential says Parkside Residence’s location within a cluster of bustling businesses near Discovery Green Park and George R. Brown Convention Center, plus its connection to the downtown tunnel system will make it an easy sell for working professionals. But developers also say the property appeals to empty nesters, Astros’ season ticket holders , traveling nurses and anyone who wants the convenience of retail, restaurants and entertainment within walking distance.

“Whether or not they’re mid-career or late career, there’s a need for people to have more convenience in life. Everyone in Houston is used to that 45-minute commute one way, but I think people are less tolerant of that after they’ve worked from home for a while. We want people to live and work in the same kind of node and join in the city’s initiative to get more people living downtown,” said Yewande Fapohunda, lead of residential projects with High Street Residential in Houston.
