INDIANAPOLIS — The new $2.3 billion hospital in downtown Indianapolis is expected to open in late 2027.
The new hospital will combine adult care services at Methodist and University hospitals. By consolidating, officials said this will save both hospitals $50 million a year in operating costs. Officials said the new hospital will be the centerpiece of a 44-acre campus that will have more than 2 million square feet of space, consist of three towers and stand 16 stories tall.
Patients will be able to receive a wide range of care services including surgery, medical imaging, clinical research trials and care for a variety of medical conditions, the release said. The hospital will support three clinical institutes: cancer, cardiovascular and neuroscience.It will be able to accommodate 864 beds, and all rooms will be private. Health officials noted that this count is comparable to the current licensed beds at Methodist and University hospitals.
The hospital's campus will have four bus route stops, nine bike parking locations and spaces for electrical vehicle charging.
