Rejuvenated Manvel coasts to 60-31 District 18-5A win over Friendswood

“If we can stay healthy, I think this thing can get back to where we were last year,” Marshall said. “We had a kid almost fracture a jaw, a kid with a broken nose, a kid we just got back who had a fractured knee … we’ve had a whole lot of adversity.Manvel secured its 11th consecutive win after an 11-7 start to its injury-riddled campaign.The Lady Mavericks sprinted to a 14-4 lead by the 4:10 mark of the opening quarter, led 20-7 after one period and never looked back.
“They’re explosive, and they press well,” Friendswood head coach Christian Thompson said. “Manvel is fast and athletic. We couldn’t slow them down and break the press.Manvel built a 34-14 halftime lead and quickly sent the advantage to 40-14 in the first three minutes of the third quarter on a basket from Fields, a 3-pointer from Cooks and a free throw by Oba.
