, set in the space that once housed the Dunlavy, quietly opened last week as the newest project from the Big Vibe Group, the hospitality group that operates Gratify and Coppa Osteria in Rice Village. This is Big Vibe’s first opening since thewhich once operating the Dunlavy.
The menu is under the direction of three chefs, Epifanio Rosas, Daniel Gonzalez, and Reynaldo Quezada, specializing in Mexican dishes with an emphasis on a masa program with fresh corn tortillas made daily. Starters include guacamole and chips, chorizo-stoked queso served with chips, chickpeas with roasted garlic, charred octopus, grilled oysters, and nachos.
In addition to house margaritas, Flora’s cocktails include Seven Spanish Angels , Gjeronimo , The Escobar , El Pipino , Gratify Smash , and Ginger Mezcalita . Flora is the first new concept under the Big Vibe umbrella, announced Cooper, working with business partners Josep Prats and Marc Cantu. Unlike the Dunlavy, Flora is not offering private events or private dining. The restaurant is open Monday through Thurssday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
