Scientists consider a rate of 5% or more to be evidence of significant spread. While the statewide rate has fallen fast, only one Pennsylvania county had a rate of less than 5% in the week leading up to Thursday, according to newly updated data on the state’s early warning dashboard. Overall, rural counties have the highest rates, with Bedford and Cameron counties having the highest 24.5%. Perry County also had one of the highest, 23.4%.
Also, the daily number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 was down nearly 1,100 from the previous week, and the daily average number of patients on ventilators was down by about 116.
