Disney has released the first trailer for Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again, the animated sequel to the iconic franchise that starred Ben Stiller. The animated movie will be the fourth film in the franchise, marking the first Night at the Museum entry since Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb premiered back in 2014. That movie grossed $363 million worldwide, sending off the trilogy.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY After revealing the first image from the upcoming Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again at the beginning of the month, Disney released the first trailer for the animated movie. The trailer stars Disney alum Joshua Bassett as Nick Daley, who becomes the new night watchman at the American Museum of Natural History, the original museum of the franchise.
According to original trilogy director Shawn Levy's thoughts of the movies concluding with Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and the cast reboot for the animated Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again, it's hard to imagine the franchise coming back with its original format on the big screen. After all, not even star Ben Stiller was involved with the animated sequel, having Shazam! star Zachary Levi take up the night watcher mantle, or better, flashlight.
If Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again becomes a success after its Disney+ premiere on December 9, a future live-action reboot of the franchise with the animated sequel's cast could very well become a reality. Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again will be anchored by Joshua Bassett's performance as lead character Nick Daley.
