is the album Niki considers her “real debut.” Titled aptly after her given name, marking “a return to her true self,” the album consists of six reimagined YouTube originals alongside six never-before-heard tracks. When combined, they detail the entire story of her first romantic relationship from end to beginning, reversing her initial tracklist simply because she thought it’d be “more fun.
Thanks to the degree of detachment that comes with time, Niki found the writing process for Nicole to be relatively painless. However, the five-day shoot for the film required her to physically relive some of her most painful moments, such as realizing her ex was dating someone new while sitting in his dorm room after a 22-hour flight, which stirred up a myriad of past emotions.
