Roger Moore once argued that James Bond should never die onscreen, but Daniel Craig's No Time To Die was able to prove the idea could work.
Roger Moore had some thoughts about the killing of James Bond, but No Time To Die proved it could work. The Roger Moore era of Bond is completely at odds with modern spy thrillers. The majority of Moore's 007 adventures were knowingly silly and camp and filled with outlandish gadgets, villains and double entendres.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT His run lasted from 1973's Live And Let Die and ended with Moore's least favorite Bond movie A View To A Kill in 1985. Audiences back then never had to worry about 007 making it to the end credits; in fact, they never had to worry about that with any other era of the franchise either.
"They wouldn’t allow James Bond to die then, and I don’t believe we should any time soon either," summing up his opinion. To the late, great Moore, not only did he feel that 007's death was unnecessary, but he felt it would also spell the end of the series. Moore also compared it to Arthur Conan Doyle killing off Sherlock Holmes after growing tired of the character; Doyle would reverse this a few years later after complaints from loyal readers.
No Time To Die Proved Killing 007 Didn't Have To Kill The Franchise If No Time To Die was indeed intended as the final entry in the franchise, Moore would have had a point. However, Craig's last outing had the protection of viewers knowing that while it was the actor's last time playing the part, the series itself would continue.
