North Shore limited the number of chances had to score in the critical postseason contest
HOUSTON - After the program's deep postseason run in 2022, Gavin Bruce, Pasadena High School's longtime boys soccer coach, was counting on another such experience this year.The Eagles suffered a rare bi-district championship setback when North Shore struck for two late goals, powering the Mustangs to a 3-1 win Thursday night.
Ironically, North Shore's go-ahead goal arrived when Pasadena held an advantage of players on the field thanks to two yellow cards assessed against the Mustangs, one for taunting Pasadena's fans after the tie-breaking goal and likely a second yellow card for a similar offense. Pasadena's one goal came from the foot of Carlos Alvarenga, a shot from the right side and just nine minutes elapsed from the first-half clock.
