North Texas builder Gehan Homes changes its name to Brightland Homes

A longtime North Texas homebuilder will soon go by a new name following a change in ownership seven years ago.

The company said the new name will eliminate confusion about the company following the Gehans’ exit. The new logo for Brightland features an arc above the letters G and H, a nod to the company’s past.

“Looking at the evolution of our company since we transitioned the business in 2016, we have experienced significant growth and implemented changes,” John Winniford, Gehan’s CEO, said in a statement. “The business has expanded into new markets through acquisition, created new and diversified product offerings and delivered over 17,000 homes.Still, the company will continue to use the Gehan Homes name to market some residential construction services and real estate development projects.

Gehan was the 29th-largest homebuilder in the nation in 2021 with 3,166 closings, bringing in $1.2 billion in revenue, according to
